Preparing Kids to Go Back to School After Summer Break

July 7, 2021 / Parent Resources

Getting back to school after the summer holidays is far from easy. To ease the transition, we’ve listed a few tips that might help your child.

Provide Reassurance

How exactly is your child feeling about the transition? If they’re anxious, ask them why they feel that way. Maybe there’s something in particular that’s bothering them. Reassure them and let them know that they’re not alone.

Stay Organized

Getting back to school involves keeping things in order; making sure everything is organized. A few days before school reopens, ensure your child sleeps on time, have their uniforms ready, and check whether they have all the back to school essentials (books, pens, and other stationery items).

Create Learning Opportunities at Home

Returning to school will be less stressful if your child is still on track, academically. Look for ways to test your child’s math skills while cooking, and maybe carry out little science experiments for kids every other day! Playing Osmo is another awesome way to prevent summer learning loss.

It’s completely understandable if your child doesn’t feel quite ready to return to school after summer break. By establishing a routine and some positive reinforcement, your child might feel less anxious and more enthusiastic about school.
