October 19, 2023 / Learn About Osmo

Feel those goosebumps? The spooky season is here! Get ready with these Halloween party games for kids. From pumpkin-carving challenges to Halloween-themed charades, we’ve got so many fun ways to host a ghoulish good time for your big bash or family night. The best part? Most are easy to set up and require just a few basic supplies.

Let’s get this Halloween party started!

Bean Bag Toss

Kick off the festivities with a classic game of Bea Bag Toss—but with pumpkins as your target! Start by carving a large hole out of the front 3 to 5 big pumpkins. To play this Halloween party game, kids simply need to aim and toss bean bags into the pumpkins. You can assign points to each target based on the distance and/or size of the pumpkin. The person with the most points wins! You can even opt for craft pumpkins instead of fresh ones. They’re easier to carve and you can reuse them year after year.

Halloween Scavenger Hunt

Looking for a way to keep the kids active and engaged during Halloween? Organize a Halloween Scavenger Hunt! Hide themed items like plastic spiders, candy or spooky hats and more. If you don’t have those items lying around the house, you can search for spooky clipart online and print those out to hide. A scavenger hunt is an easy Halloween game that will have your kids searching high and low for a fun, adventurous challenge. (If they like solving mysteries, they’ll love Osmo’s Detective Agency game!)

Halloween Charades

Keep the festive spirit high with Halloween Charades. Make a list of Halloween-themed movies and have kids take turns acting them out. Can their teammates guess the movie? It’s a fun way to get kids to think creatively. Movies like “Hocus Pocus,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Casper” are always a great place to start. If you need more inspiration—or want to host a Halloween movie night after the game—check out our list of Best Halloween Movies to Watch with Your Family.

Cup Knock Down

For a dose of Halloween fun, set up the Cup Knock Down game. Arrange cups in a tower and have kids throw or roll a ball to try and knock them down. Want to make it more challenging? Have kids stand farther away from the tower to increase the difficulty. Get creative by drawing little faces on the cups to make them look like ghosts, making it a fun Halloween activity.

Truth or Scare

Looking for a game with a twist? Try Truth or Scare, a Halloween-themed version of the classic Truth or Dare. Challenge kids with spooky questions or fun Halloween-themed dares. Here are some questions to start off with:

  • If you could spend a night in a haunted house, would you?
  • What’s the spookiest costume you’ve ever worn?
  • Dare: Do your best impression of a famous monster!
  • Dare: Tell a spooky story in the creepiest voice you can muster.

Witch Hat Ring Toss

This one is a Halloween craft and fun party game in one! Get creative with your child by helping them make their very own witch hat, then turn it into a target for a ring-toss game for your Halloween party or family game night. Aiming to get the ring around the hat is an exciting way for kids to practice their hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills! (Want more ways to improve your kid’s hand-eye coordination? As you set up these spooktacular games, you can keep the little ones busy and fuel their creativity with our Halloween activity sheets, including word searches and connect-the-dots. We hope your Halloween party is filled with frights and delights!
