Happy Book Lovers Day!
August 9th is a special day for bookworms! To celebrate National Book Lovers Day, we’ve got some fun activities for kids at home that your word nerds will love.
Have a reading session
Pick a new book and read it aloud to the family. You could even reread your favorite book and record these readings.
Host a book party
If your child’s favorite book, for example, is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, they can choose to dress as characters from the book during the party. It could be a virtual party or a socially distanced one.
Make bookmarks and get crafty
Use a heavy cardstock-like paper for your bookmark. Then, choose pretty patterns to glue over your paper. Customize it any which way you like.
Bake a book-themed cake
First, bake simple round cakes. Next, slice them vertically so you have half-moon cake shapes. Finally, place them in such a way that they look like the pages of an open book.
Participate in a book exchange
Have your kids trade their favorite books with a friend, and get a new one in exchange.
