Summer Activities for Teens

July 1, 2021 / Parent Resources

It might be easy to keep your little ones engaged, but when it comes to teenagers, you might fall short of ideas. While kids enjoy playing games and visiting the park, older children might find solace in their mobile phones. So, we’ve listed some summer activities for teens that encourage them to step out of the digital realm, and embrace the present!

Help out with chores

This might be the last thing they’d want to do. It is, however, a superb way to keep your teens engaged. The sense of accomplishment they experience right after helping out is unmatched! This activity also works as a great way to spend quality time with your children.

Look for volunteering opportunities

Encourage your teen to volunteer at a hospital, school, charity, or a nursing home. You could accompany them too!

Get some exercise

Summer days are fun, but spending too much time indoors could make your teen lazy. Do some yoga with them, or simply take long walks outside. Exercises like these make for the best summer activities for kids at home.

Play challenging puzzle games

Playing puzzle games or even a simple game of word search could keep children busy. Beyond engaging them, they also greatly improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Osmo’s Words game lets your child solve creative word puzzles by arranging tangible letter tiles in front of the screen. Check it out!

Acquire a new skill

Whether it’s learning a new language or learning to play a new musical instrument, there’s pure joy in acquiring new skills.
