It is never too early for kids to learn the basic of STEM Games through fun educational games and activities. In fact the earlier the better! In early childhood children are mighty curious – leave them on their own and they will overturn rocks, take things apart, get under, go over as they wonder about everything and ask a million questions after all that. Tapping into this natural born curiosity and process of discovery is an easy way to work STEM learning into everyday play and prepare your child for success. Here are some tips on how you can develop a strong foundation through some stem games for kids.

SCIENCE:

Help kids think like little Einstein through a combination of science experiments for kids and sciencey tools. Younger kids can explore the concept of science in the kitchen by building a volcano with a bottle, vinegar, baking soda, detergent and food coloring. Engage older kids by making a pH indicator with red cabbage and test the acidity of liquids around the house. Use bath time to teach concepts like sinking and floating or give them scales, magnifying glasses, etc and leave them to make sense of all the science in nature. Older kids can also learn more niche concepts like those of physics through fun stem educational games such as Newton. Here, children direct small bouncing balls into targeted areas by drawing platforms and ramps or using objects around the house.

TECNOLOGY-STEM Games:

Harness kids’ love for pretend play to teach them technology. Arm them with kiddie musical instruments and gadgets that look like the real deal so they can tinker with them. Show older kids what is behind technology and its interactivity with STEM Games like Coding Awbie. This fun iPad game integrates tangible play through physical command blocks which translate into onscreen action and help the character Awbie collect strawberries. It is a great way to prep kids to code.

ENGINEERING-Stem Education Games:

Set the stage for experimentation with tools like scoops, funnels, building blocks, and pitchers and encourage your children to build something using them in the backyard. As they learn how to balance, stack, pile, transfer, and nest, they will pick up on structural principles. When a toy falls apart, fix them with your kids. Learning by doing is a big part of engineering, so fun stem education games that allow them to delve into the mechanics first hand are perfect to ignite their interest.

MATH-Stem Games for Kids:

Any chore that involves estimating sizes and amounts can help kids learn their numbers and math concepts. Get them to sort coins according to their values or set the table with the right number of plates bowls and glasses. They can count the number of steps they took to complete a clean-up task or identify shapes such as squares, circles, and rectangles in window panes, tables, washing machines.

Children can also keep count on a calendar to track growth of plants to learn number sequence or total the vegetables and fruits that are harvested each week. These are just a few fun learning games and activities that parents can teach fun stem games for kids right at home. They’ll be excited to learn the basics in a setting that feels nothing like school!
