Happy International Yoga Day!

June 21, 2021 / Parent Resources

21st June is celebrated as International Yoga Day. Here are some fun yoga exercises for you to try with your kids on this day.

The Bird

This exercise begins with a crouching position. Kids must make sure to keep their arms stretched outward. Then, they must slowly stand up while pretending to flap their “wings” as if they were a bird!

The Lion

Just like a lion, your child should position themselves on their hands and knees. They should then stretch their neck far up and try to roar just like a lion. This is an awesome way to release tension.

The Walking Dog

Stand and then lean forward, placing your arms against the floor. Your body should form the shape of a triangle. Then, move about in this position just how a dog does!

The Cobra

Keep your legs straight and feet together as you lie face-down on your stomach. Next, take a deep breath and push your hands in such a way that you raise your upper body. Try to stay in this position for at least 10 seconds, with your pelvis pressed against the floor.

The Pretzel

For this World Yoga Day exercise, all you must do is sit down in a criss-cross position. Place your feet over your knees while in this position and sway gently.

We hope you and your kids enjoy these International Yoga Day exercises!
