Happy International Chocolate Day!

September 9, 2021 / Parent Resources

September 13th is International Chocolate Day. To celebrate this delicious day, we’ve got some fun activities for you and your kids.

Make chocolate-scented play dough

For this, you’ll need:

  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ cup salt
  • 1 ¼ cups flour
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½  tablespoon cream of tartar
  • 1 ½  tablespoons cooking oil

Mix all the dry ingredients first. Then, mix in the boiling water and oil. Finally, store in an airtight container.

Create a collage using chocolate wrappers

What a great way to put those wrappers to use! You’ll have a very shiny collage indeed. Alternatively, you could create an outline of any image, and then stick your wrappers within the image instead of coloring it.

Conduct a chocolate hunt

Simply hide your child’s favorite chocolates all over the house and watch your kids hunt for them. You could leave clues too.

If your kids enjoy hunts like these, they’ll love Osmo’s Detective Agency! It’s a one of the fun games for kids where they get to hunt for missing pets and bust villainous thieves – all while learning about geography and cultures around the world.

Chocolate finger painting

Got a leftover batch of instant chocolate pudding? Try this activity! Simply have your kids dip their fingers in chocolate and paint images of their choice.

We know this could get messy. For a mess-free art game, check out Osmo’s Masterpiece.

Guess the chocolate

This activity could be better suited for older kids. For this, you’ll need to blindfold your child and have them taste different kinds of chocolate and guess which one it is: milk, white or dark.

We hope chocolate day turns out to be super fun for you and your kids! For more interactive games, check the rest of our Osmo.
